Algae
Algae is actually a tiny plant which lives inside your tank. It appears most commonly as a green film on the walls of your tank, although it can also be other colors. It is not harmful to your fish in small amounts, but if you cannot see your fish because of algae build-up, then you have too much algae.Goldfish will sometimes eat algae, and this is okay. Algae will grow in a tank whenever there is extra light. Overall, algae is more of a nuisance than a danger as long as it is kept under control.
