Secret:
Death by Dagger Constitution
Article 4: The Kill
- Paragraph A: The Motive
- Paragraph B: The Weapon
- Paragraph C: The Method
- Paragraph D: Post Mortem
- Paragraph E: Witnesses, or Lack Thereof
- Paragraph F: Sanctuary
- Paragraph A The Motive
Your motive is simple. You want to win the game. You want to kill the person whose name is on your dagger. Bloodthirsty, isn't it? You don't want anybody to figure out your technique.
- Paragraph B The Weapon
As stated in Article II, The Dagger is used to perpetrate all murders. The name on the Dagger must match the name of the victim for the kill to take place.
- Paragraph C The Method
The murder is performed by bodily touching, though not with extreme of force, the victim and in addition stating in a clear and succinct voice, one of the following phrases:
- Section 1 Dead Phrases
- "You are dead"
- "You are dead as a doorknob"
- "I have brought this death upon you"
- "You're dead sucker"
- Section 2 Euphemisms
- "You have kicked the bucket"
- "You have climbed that long stairway to the heavens"
- "You have left the land of the living"
- "Prepare to the bite the big one"
- "You have passed away"
- "You have passed on"
- "You have passed out, for the last time"
- Section 3 Murder Phrases
- "I have murdered you"
- "You have been murdered"
- "You have been murdered in cold blood"
- "You have been murdered in cold paper"
- Section 4 Off the Wall Phrases
- "I'll send flowers to the wake"
- "You look pale for a dead man"
- "Say goodnight honey"
- "Eat cold steel"
- "Take that platypus breath"
- "Say hello to the ferryman for me"
- "Your life insurance just ran out"
- Section 5 Ethnic Phrases
- "Yo, my man... you just O.D.'ed for the last time"
- "Whadd'a you a mush-oo-gunna, you're dead"
- "Mamma would have wanted it this way"
- "Hey Kielbaska breath! BadaBing!"
- "Say... that's a ni-i-ice bike. You're Dead"
- Section 6 Original Phrases
Unfortunately, since you have not said them yet, I cannot write them down. However, they must meet the following criteria:
- Recognition
- They must be recognizable as a statement of death.
- Volume
- They must be loud enough to be heard.
- Paragraph D Post Mortem
After slaying a victim, collect all their daggers, then proceed back to your lair and fill out the tombstone as described in Article VI. You will now have the victim's latest dagger which will now become your latest victim. In other words, as soon as you kill one person, you move on to the next.
- Paragraph E Witnesses, or Lack Thereof
- WITNESS
- Someone who sees AND/OR hears a definite murder attempt.
You must slay your victim without the presence of a witness. If the act is witnessed, the murder fails and the victim is rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. The game then resumes as normal except that now your victim knows who is after them. Please don't let that happen, it sucks. If other people find out on accident then it is not your fault... however as described in the cheating rules if you tell someone who you failed to kill then you will be terminated. Witnessing Guidelines are as follows:
- Section 1 Participant
Any game participant other than the murderer or the victim who is present at the scene of the crime of the witness. For the sake of argument, should you witness a murder, please state something to that effect * immediately *. Just announce it to the murderer and alleged victim.
- Section 2 Non-Participant
Any person not participating in the game who clearly states that they have just witnessed a murder take place is considered a witness. They must be able to describe in some believable fashion what took place. So wake the kids and phone the neighbors. Make sure they watch out for yourself.
- Section 3 Self Witness
The intended victim may be a witness to their own murder if upon seeing the approach of a suspicious character announces clearly a phrase along the lines of "That person is going to murder me." THIS OF COURSE IS ONLY EFFECTIVE IF THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE AROUND AT THE TIME OF THE STATEMENT AND THE TIME OF THE ALLEGED MURDER. This will prevent you from being trapped in a classroom by a ruthless killer. This will not save you in an abandoned hallway with just you, the murderer and the dagger.
- Paragraph F Sanctuary
Please remember that both feet are required to be inside a sanctuary in order to consider the victim to be safe.
Both feet inside is described as follows:
It should be relatively obvious if the victim is safe... let's say that on average the opening of the doorway is the line of death. This is a rough estimate so don't attempt to kill someone if it is questionable... you'll have plenty other chances. Judgments will be called on an individual basis with the above statements in mind. The following places are considered Sanctuary and no murdering may take place in them:
- Section 1 The Victim's Room
Your room is sanctuary for yourself and your roommate. So you need not worry about being killed in your room. However, you can be slashed down on your doorstep if both feet are outside the door, so be careful. Your room is only considered your room if you are registered for that room. Goldfishing and unofficial room switching are NOT considered your room. Any body living in an apartment will ONLY be considered safe in their OWN room!! Or their bathroom.
- Section 2 Lavatories
Any lavatory is sanctuary for the gender it is intended to serve. So be careful because you may be killed in a room for the opposite sex (or for sex depending on how you like to use the showers.)
- Section 3 Classrooms
Any classroom in which you are attending a class during the official classroom time is considered sanctuary. Remember, it must be the room of a class that you are registered for and attending. So this does not mean you can just duck into any old classroom and be safe, unless of course it happens to be the room for the class you are blowing off that period.
- Section 4 Research areas
Places of study should be places that people don't get disturbed. A loose guideline is as follows:
- R+D Room
- Computer Room/ ARG Room
- Software Room
- User Center
NOTE: Please do not confuse this statement to mean places such as the Library, or Study Lounges, or Computer Labs. Although these are places of study they are very open. The only time ANY lab is considered safe is if there is a academically scheduled lab... then it is considered a class.
Once again, individual cases will be dealt with, and the above statement is simply a guideline. It is a good idea to ask me before you attempt a kill... then you won't get so upset because you're victim will still be clueless.
- Section 5 Work
Any office in which you work is considered sanctuary while you are on company time. And yes, Gracies is considered an office IF YOU ARE WORKING. Do not try to abuse this privileged by stretching the term office. For example, "I am on Custodial Crew and therefore the whole campus is my office." is lame and not recognizable.
NOTE: You cannot kill someone when you are working either. We will not give workers an unfair advantage, and we don't believe in labor unions so DON'T CRY!
Once again, individual cases will be dealt with, with the above statement as a guideline. If you are unsure about a situation ask first so you won't be disappointed if you fail to make a kill.
