There is the possibility that I may have my own place in a few months!!!! My grandmother might be moving out to a better apartment building (she's been on a waiting list for a new apartment, and it looks like she's finally got it after 16 years) and because of NYC housing laws I have succession rights to the lease at the apartment we're living in now (it's run down, but it's rent controlled). the only question is if the rent control will remain after I take over the lease. There may be a problem with that, I'm checking out the details and waiting for the city workers to get back to me with the info.
So keep your fingers crossed, because if the rent control holds after my grandparents move out I'll have me one spacious bachelorette pad in need of some light renovation (but it's in Manhattan so I don't care).
Finally!!!!!!!!!

Tomarrow I get to finaly see my nephew. My family and I are flying ou to St. Loius for his cristening and I get to see my Brother Jim. He's awsome, ok picture a thirty something guy who is president/CEO of a company who still likes to go mountain bike riding and who actually built the swingset from scratch and made it big enough to support the weight of all the BIG(read adult) kids.

Good news, Lev has its new home!
Any posts made in the last hour or so should be
re-entered.
Also you will notice that the dates on
the messages did not survive. Ouchie! We went to a new version and the new version doesn't
do a good job upsizing messages. But they are
all here.
No worries about Lev going by by now!
Also.. The new edit function doesn't work. It is a "feature" of the pay version. I haven't figured out how to remove it yet...
Regards,
Bryan..

Slightly belated good news!
I have a new apartment!
Heartfelt kudos to Darren, Sol, and Angie for helping move in two weekends ago.
An extra set of kudos to Darren for helping me move and set up my entertainment center into the apartment this weekend.
All I have left to get for the apartment is a sofa-bed and chair set for the living room.
Once that final piece is in place, you guys are all welcome to come visit anytime you want.

GOOD JOB BRY! ;> By the way, I happen to have a very comfy couch with a built-in recliner living in my bedroom, if you don't mind hand-me-downs it's a perfect opportunity, as well as an excuse for you to come visit (or the other way around, of course). Thank u Sol. Yeah, Ozzy was cute. So was my dog Taz, I had some slides of her but half of my stuff is still in boxes crammed into my closet. Anyway, Samoyeds are the coolest breed of dogs in the world. They're really good family dogs and they love children. Since I was a misfit growing up I had no human friends. Ozzy was my best and only friend.
By Subcriminal (Nat) on Friday, June 22, 2001 - 08:27 am: |
Oh yeah, and since they're pack dogs they're usually friendly to other dogs and not violent by nature at all! They're so friendly in fact that they make terrible attack dogs. The bark when they see new people (so they're good watchdogs) but chances are that they'd try to befriend any burglar who might break into your house. They're also REALLY smart and do all sorts of cute things to get your attention.

Italian or NY Italian? Just curious. Luck.
By Subcriminal (Nat) on Wednesday, June 27, 2001 - 12:03 pm: |
Italian- I'm pretty sure. Judging by his accent he certainly wasn't born here. I know, I know. Watch out for classic jealousy and a hot temper =)If he's the macho extremist type then I don't think we'll jive very well. We're just going out for coffee after work tonite, but it's still technically a date. I told my grandmother that I was going to a NYC Siggraph chapter meeting. I'm living a double life.

Actually, see, I'm a complete idiot. I got his accent all wrong. He's Lithuanian, after hearing him talk for a while it became obvious. I sort of jumped the gun with guessing his nationality. His last name sounded Italian, and he had a European accent so immediately assumed his was Italian. I had him for lunch today.

Ummm... There has been a slight miscommunication somewhere along the way, and I thought the tattoo appointment was at 4pm. Well, I just got a message from Nat, and it is at 3pm. Ummmmm... I hope she doesn't become violent with me. Also, I was at my parents' house last night, my mom cancelled the fireworks plans, so I had to drive out there and pick up Brenna, didn't get here until 3pm, and by then it was already too late. And now, the next train into NYC isn't till 4pm, and I won't get to the tattoo shop until like 5pm. I wonder if Nat can handle 2 hours of pain without me? I tried calling her twice at her gramma's house, but alas, no answer. So, I suppose there is going to be some violence in store for me in the near future. Oh well, happy 4th of July everybody!!! ;>

Don't worry Fred, my elation over my new tattoo has saved you from most of my animosity. I'm just glad ya showed up. The tat took 2 hours LONGER than expected. Sorry we missed the fireworks though. But that cheeseburger was good. Yummy.. Must restore blood levels...
Hey Fred! Tell 'em 'bout that cool blood effect thingy while I was getting inked. You tell that story so well.
As for the pain, it wasn't that bad overall. It's just those little nerve bundle spots that get ya. I'm glad I didn't cry or anything, just a bunch of "OOWWWW! OOWW! OOWW!!!" when he hit a nerve in my back. I didn't realize that tattoo was so BIG. OHMIGOD! Wish me luck hiding it from grandma =)
By Margravine (Ranger) on Thursday, July 05, 2001 - 11:39 am: |
Just tell her you've been shot and invest in a whole econo-box of those big sticky bandages for at home wear.
Umm, just how big did it turn out to be??
By Subcriminal (Nat) on Thursday, July 05, 2001 - 12:46 pm: |
I'd say it covers roughly 1/4 of my entire back- maybe a little bit less. The tail of the dragon starts half-way down my back and it winds all the way up to the top of my shoulder.
It is beautiful. I had Darren (the tattoo guy) put in some nice blue fades (ultramarine fading into a bright cyan) for the dragon's underbelly, tail, spine, limb and eye accents.
My clothes cover the tat up really well. I just have to be careful when I shower and dress in the morning. Unfortunately I can't keep it bandaged up because it would hinder the healing process.
I took the bandage off at around 4am, cleaned it up, put some lotion on it and went back to bed. When I woke up this morning the pillow under my back had the tattoo faintly printed on it from the excess ink oozing out. Freaky! And that ink ain't coming out of my white pillowcase because the black color contains some India ink- a highly staining product I've used for pen & ink drawings.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Thursday, July 05, 2001 - 02:16 pm: |
yeah, a 12" x 10" tattoo takes a LONG time to ink. I was oftentimes bored. Thank God Darren was so cool, or else we woulda had NUTHIN to talk about. As it was, we poked fun at people, did some Austin Powers funnies, laughed at Nat as she oozed blood from the needle-holes. General all-around fun. he was a pretty kewl guy. Anyway, L8R.
By Subcriminal (Nat) on Thursday, July 05, 2001 - 03:35 pm: |
You're right, Darren was a very cool guy, he gave me a free t-shirt too =) I'm so glad that I did my homework with finding the right tattoo artist, it really paid off. I will definately book an appointment with him the next time I want a tattoo. I highly recommend Darren to anyone who's considering a tat.
Sorry you were bored watching me suffer, Fred. I'm not very good at conversation while meditating to still my reflexes. It took a lot out of me, I was sapped of all strength when I got home. You also didn't see my face during the last couple hours when the pain got annoying. I was biting my lip, clenching my teeth, wincing, etc. Which is why Byron (I think that was his name) kept asking Darren "Geezz! What are you doin to her, man?".
Oh, and remember "You're being awful quiet, Nat. Do I have to find a nerve?"

The NYC HPD has offically sent their approval for my grandparents to move into their new apartment!!! The paperwork FINALLY went through... They can start moving in as soon as the 15th. But I'm guessing that we won't actually move them in until a month or so.
And that means I got me a bachelorette pad!
Woo hoo!!!!

YAY! That's great Nat! Now you don't need to come over to my place and crash just to escape yer grandparents! ;> When is the redecorating gonna start? L8R...
By Subcriminal (Nat) on Monday, July 09, 2001 - 10:21 am: |
Well, right now we have to get the second phase of paperwork done like signing the lease and paying the initial deposit. After that we'll get the keys and set an actual move-in date- that's when we can make plans for the movers. I'm gonna try and have my grandmother switch all the utilities to my name this week. Once we have a better idea on when my grandmother will be vacating I'll have to send a letter to the apartment management and let them know I have succession rights.
As far as decorating goes I need to pay off some bills first (that tat was a bit of an investment). Then I need to get a real bed. My futon is all lumpy, old and uncomfortable. The light renovations are gonna cost a pretty penny so I might hold off on getting the bed until I have the place fixed up. The kitchen and the floors are gonna be the worst. I'll be renting a paint sprayer from home depot so that will make painting a snap (I hope).
I'm not going to renovate the two rooms in the back of the apartment because I won't be using them for anything other than storing all my grandmother's crap that she'll be leaving behind. I just want to get my personal living space finished first. New furniture will be a reality if I get a healthy raise in October.
Anyway, Fred I might be visiting you this weekend (if I can escape). I feel really bad about forgeting the motherboard and CD at home when I saw you on wednesday. I forgot 'cuz I was running late for the tattoo appointment. Sowwwy =( I'll bring it with me this time.

well, on saturday I have been roped into going with my parents down to the boat for a hawaiian-themed barbecue dock-party held by one of the other boat owners. Brenna really wanted to go , so I figured I'd go with her. That's at 5pm. Sunday, the GW Battle-Wagon will be at the Encounter bringing with it the new battle-tour "Albion, Isle of Mystery" where the warhammer armies shall fight for the fate of the entire Old World. That should be cool. Ummm, the rest of my weekend-time should be free though. And if you ever wanted to play a game of warhammer fantasy, this would be a great time to learn, since GW supplies all the figures, terrain, rules, army lists, EVERYTHING. All you bring is your own bad self. Lemme know. L8R!

Naughty. I wish I could come play but science hasn't developed real matter transporter technology yet!
My friend Greg and I went on a mystery trip Saturday night. I didn't drive and I didn't know where we were going. Where we ended up was very cool. Montreal! We hung out at some night clubs, ate at French cafes, played blackjack at the casino, did some shoping, looked at all the beautiful people. It was cool.
Quebec is the only place I can think of in the Northeast that you can drive to and really feel like you have gone to a foreign country.
I really liked the currency exchange rate. At 48%
right now, you get $1.48 canadian for every 1 US dollar. Not too shabby. =)
I give Montreal four stars out of four.

Bry, you could drive down on saturday, get to my place saturday night, and then we could both go on sunday, and you could leave straight from there (since it will be about 1.5 hours closer to ya) and still home in time for bed-time. Whattaya think? To be honest with ya, I think I may actually be closer to ya than Montreal... Syracuse to Binghamton = 1 hour, Binghamton to Scranton = 1 hour, Scranton to Stroudsburg = 45 minutes. We could meet at my parents house even, if it would be closer... AND you could learn how to play a really awesome game. AND you could hang out with Jon and me... Whattaya think? ;>

Good luck with your classes, Sol.
I don't have a scanner at home, I don't really need it all that bad 'cause I got one at work. But I can't scan my back, I'd have to lie down on the scanner and have someone else operate the computer. I dunno, maybe I'll try to see if I can pull it off. Who knows?
By Subcriminal (Nat) on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 - 07:11 pm: |
Okay, this is a REALLY bad scan because:
1) the tattoo is a bit distorted since I had to contort my body so I could lie on the scanner and operate the computer at the same time.
2) the tattoo is still the healing stages- the skin is peeling which is why the black isn't solid.
3) scanning sucks for this kind of thing.

Are you sure you wanna make that your wallpaper Sol? My tattoo looks a bit different in reality. Because I was twisting my back around and the angle was all wrong it looks sorta distorted. I'll see if I can get someone to take a snapshot of my tat, that would be much better.

Good News - Angie and I are continuing our house-search in the Rochester Area. We are approved for a modest mortgage and are looking forward to having our own house instead of paying another year of rent. Gates is the likely location of our new abode - we found one we REALLY like, but we need to talk 'em down. We are also going to see another house tonight, maybe that'll be the one?
I have designs on the basement. It used to be a hair salon, but I think it'd make a better gaming room. There is enuff parking space for 4-6 cars EASY... perfect for hangouts, and also the attic is well-finished and makes not 1 but 2 huge guest bedrooms. Wish me luck! Me want!

So the good news everyone is that I'm buying a house! It's in Gates and has its own yard. Buffalo Road in fact. It has two bedrooms - one for us, one for all my computers ;) and a HUGE downstairs suitable for gaming or movies.
Yeah!
Move-in is slated (so far) for end-November.

Wheelbarrows are COOL.
Dog - we're still debating, but we COULD. Pro'lly not tho 'cause there are allergy issues.
Certainly we should have a BIG party! WOO!
