Umm...I was under the impression that it was impossible to track through hyper space....tsk, tsk.

Homeing beacon. That's how the Devestator followed Leia's ship to Tatooine.
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
It's also how the Death Star followed the Falcon to Yavin.

GF do me a favor and delete my last Star Wars post I need to rewrite it.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
I erased yer last post, and replaced it with one of me own. I made Trinj's life interesting. I left it open-ended for ya to jump on in, but I'm sure some kind of damage happened as a result of what Rogan just did. Talk at ya later.
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
Yeah ya did GF, ya definetly did. I now have to find some other way of getting Trinj into the group. Oh well Challenges abound and overcoming them a blessing.
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
Ah GF I went back and reading the post again and again relized that you accidentilly killed my charachter. Since he was next to the ship when it went into hyperspace his fighter was sucked in as well.
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
Ok I have gotten Trinj in and so GF is off the hook set, serve, ball is in the next court.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
I haven't read the post yet, but just from the past 3 in here, let me please state that if you want a character to survive, write him surviving. This is exactly why I did not specifically say "and the escape pods slammed into Trinj's ship and he died." I left it open. If Trinj is good enough, he will survive. Now, that being said, I'm off to read the Star Wars topic... ;>

Which Planet KH, Acid fungus planet or the seventh planet? Still trying to save Forp? He should have a couple of nice acid burns by now. ;)
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
Omigod! What happened to Dallas?! Oh Right, I get to tell YOU that. hehehehehe!
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
Faye? Posting on a monday? Huh? Me confused...
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
Well, that was my goal.... ;)
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
SR: No, they didn't get the artery...
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
I would write, but I'm really really really very extraordinarily busy right now. We'll see what happens, tho. L8R
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
Umm, was there a deadline involved? Did I miss it? This is the fun stuff, remember, it's the other stuff they pay you for. This is only the stuff you wish you could do alla time ;) Did you have an opinion on the fight scene though?
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
Very kewl. I'll be hard pressed to have Dawson upstage that one, but I think I'll be able to find a way... ;> L8R...
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
Bravo, Bravo. That was a fight scene worth every bit of effort it took to write. I loved it.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
Have not been inspired recently to write anything. Tired. Very tired. But, okay, since Eric & Faye in Rochester area this week... Seek inspirations... Must go walk around NYC watching all the @ssholes for character inspiration for Ray.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
Don't make me bring Julian into this, Damien. It won't be pleasant... ;>
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
I didn't say he was Talon. Besides he didn't go through with it now did he? It won't happen either so there:p
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
By the way GF are Eric & Faye gonna be back tommarrow or what?
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
Not till monday. Why are there so many force-flingers hangin around? Why can't we have a good, old-fashioned, normal-guys story for once? ;>
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
Trinj is a minor force user. In fact the usual extent of his use includes masking his force abilities. He does not acknowledge his powers often and will even deny he has them. Though he carries a lightsaber he still relies on more conventional weapons. All this means is that unless it is a last resort he will not use the Force. He has few powers, he would be considered a grey Jedi, not a Jedi but not a Sith either.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
That's not a grey Jedi. A grey Jedi is as powerful as a full Jedi, only they believe in a balance between the two sides of the Force--light & dark--and MUST attain a balance between them in everyday practice. In RPG terms, this means carrying no dark side points, but also no light side points (yes, grey Jedi get a light side point for anything they do which is goody-goody and heroic). The best example I can think of for you to relate to, Damien, is actually Julian. He's walking the edge, but because of all he's been through, has come to embrace the beliefs of the Baadu (grey Jedi) and actually has gotten rid of 2 dark side points through trying to attain balance. He's not out of the woods yet, but is well on his way to holding no DS points at all.
Also, as I said on Sat. night--the only information readers have is the information you give to them. If you decide to make Trinj a minor force user--tell the readers. Maybe write a post elaborating where he found his powers, why doesn't he like to use them, what happened to make him feel the way he does. He's sitting alone in the cargo hold of a ship--he has plenty of time to sit and think--reflect upon the past or whatever. Write a flashback post or something. As it stands now (at least the way I read it) Trinj is a powerful force wielder, able to mask his Force from Danse (who ain't no slouch) and has spent the past several hours doing a Farseeing in the cargo hold (which nobody seems to have noticed who's force sensitive on the ship) to see whether or not he can get away.
And why is EVERYBODY carrying a lightsaber? Aren't they supposed to be rare?
Please, don't take anything I say as a knock-down criticism--I intend it to be constructive criticism. Your post is fine--I actually had to read it a second time to figure out Trinj was doing a farseeing, and not actually killing everybody on the ship. I'm just suggesting possible ways to improve your character development, as well as transfer your thoughts into writing so the reader actually knows what's going on.
I think you may have pi$$ed off Eric though. Did you see his announcement? L8R.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
I wrote this before reading Star Wars today. Good development, Damien.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
I uuuuhhhh, wrote something in Shadowrun. Hope you all enjoy it. Lemme know, okay? Faye, you're turn--or we could discuss the next step on Saturday or on the phone or something. L8R.
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
Nice one, Fred. Chou just getting his toes wet, eh?
Dallas isn't too terribly hurt overall, if you count it all up except for the thigh and a possibilty of a minor concussion, it's all superficial - as are most of Ray's injuries, except for the nasty nose, I guess. Did he rupture an eardrum? Dallas' main problem I should think is the rapid loss of about a pint of blood. We'll patch 'em up nice, maybe give 'em a day off, then back at it.
We'll talk. :D

After a long hiatus, I am back into the Deadwood story. Sorry it has taken so long, but hey I had to go through culture shock all over again after moving from New Jersey to Mississippi. Yikes!
By Tough as an old (Hickory) on Unrecorded Date: |
P.S. Hiya Faye!
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
Keith!!!!!!! Hiya, babe, good to hear from you again! :D (oh hey, I meant, Hickory, 'kay.)
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
Greyfred, I capped off recent events in Shadowrun -- it felt like an 'end of the chapter' kind of area. So I think we're in clear water for what should be the final 'chapter[s]' of our tale. What do you think?
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
Ummmmm... Yup. ;>
Docs needsta find that cure-strain.
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
Are you stopping by this week?
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
yeah. Tonight.
Re: Deadwood: Hey, I never realized how evil other people could view Brody as being until I read Keith's post... The Dark Side is strong in him, no? ;>
By Tough as an old (Hickory) on Unrecorded Date: |
I don't think of Brody as evil per se, but more of the really cautious/hardened type of guy. Not exactly trusting of anything or anyone. Also, I kind of get the feeling that this character has his own agenda which does not necessarily mean bad or evil, just not exactly good.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
shadowrun: I think Dallas and Dawson should lay it all out for Fielding. He seems like a good enough guy (corporate as he is). Who knows, maybe that's the corporate pressure our boys need to corner Chou and whoop the baddies. I also think the whole scheme should get released to the media, exposing the failed attempt at genocide on the part of the policlub.
Or, maybe a better ending would be that nobody even finds out about it, and our boys walk away, after having saved life as we know it, without anybody being the wiser--no thanks, no pat on the back, just another day at the office. Yeah, that's a much more realistic and dark ending than the hero's ceremony type endings like in Star Wars movies. Also much more fitting with the world we're writing for.
We gotta get the docs some time. Maybe somebody should write a little snippet for them down in the underground, doing research. After all, it was only yesterday that they were moved, and they had a possible test strain they thought MIGHT work. Dawson and Dallas are buying them time. But, now Chou knows who to hunt for, and will use every resource he has at his disposal to get to the docs and kill them. He also needs to prevent the flow of information to any outside sources, so his organization doesn't get exposed. He's the clean-up man, and he's normally very good at what he does.
So, here's a final poll question: does Chou live at the end of our story, or does he die? Consider the possibilities if he lives: recurring villain, sequel-plots, follow-up rivalries with little or no additional character development, even stories that might focus on him as the main character... But if he dies, the end-scene would have to be so dramatically climactic, I doubt it would be writable in one or two posts. Think epic here, boys and girls.
Also, does anybody out there who's been reading shadowrun have any critiques, suggestions, or opinions about the story thus far? I'm always looking for criticisms and stuff about stories I work/collaborate on. Faye, I'm sure you'd appreciate it, too, no? I've already talked for too long. PEACE.
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
I'm always up for some input. If you all haven't read it, give it a go. We think it's turning out pretty decent.
Re: Chou. 1. Kill him outright. We could, he does have the Golden Dragon organization to avenge him.
2. Let him escape. Viable, he'd be a real pain in the butt for our characters if he survived. They could count on regular assasination attempts.
3. Possibly/probably dead but no proof. Leaves the door open. Explosions are good for that sort of thing.
Re: the Docs. I've been thinking about them. You're right we need to get something down about their progress.
Re Finale: I favor the complete supression of any information. Our guys are not international heros/villians (depending on whose pov we're taking) Only Sawyer and perhaps a handful more know of their role. But, hey, they have a real good street rep now. As good as a team of ten year shadowrun vets could hope for.
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
shadowrun idea: Chou is on the hunt now. He'll use Annette to squeeze Ray for info on the docs, which will, at this point, tip Ray off that Chou is pulling her strings. This will be unfortunate for Annette, who has until now thought she's been the one pulling all the strings. Chou will want to confront Dallas and Dawson seperately, the old divide-and-conquer tactic. He'll prolly try to leverage them against one another (ask one questions while torturing the other--you know). I don't know about Dallas, but Ray has been conditioned against torture and coercion.
I'm still trying to figure out (remember) what I was thinking when I wrote that post way back when Chou mentioned that soon Takahashi will be dead, Fujiyama will be found responsible for the virus, and the Golden Dragon will disappear, safe in the knowledge they wiped out metahumans... Hmmmmm... That will have to be handled delicately, I think... Possibly through the use of Annette as a pawn... But, I've said too much already. What was I talking about again? ;> Faye, if you could write for the docs, I'll try to push things plot-wise from the bad-guys side. L8R!
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
Hmmm, okay but -- with Dallas and Dawson wise to him, I think it would be pretty tough for Chou to capture one let alone both of them -- especially if they let Sawyer in on a lot of what's going on. All they really have to tell him would be that Chou (and his organisation) are the ultimate threat to Nicolette and the metas in general....
think...think...think [in my best Pooh bear fashion]
By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Unrecorded Date: |
I finally revealed a bit about Ray's history. Annette is reading through the files Chou supplied her... Also, I set the game ahead by a day--if we anted to get anything done during that time, it'll have to be phrased as recap or flashback, or present-tense, and I can insert it one slot previous... Just letting all you know that Ray Dawson is a dangerous fellow... ;>
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
No! You mean he's not an undercover florist? I'm flabbergasted. :D
By Naughty God (Knight_hawk) on Unrecorded Date: |
Hey GF FYI it's Isshinryu, just for your own personal knowledge. Otherwise the post was informative and top notch I enjoyed it emensly.
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
This is only one end of what I was thinking. I still want to do a Moore in the Underground post but don't have the time right now. I'll have to get to it later. cya.
By Margravine (Ranger) on Unrecorded Date: |
SR: Please also assume that our guys told Fielding about the humanis tie in.
And just for information's sake, although he has no idea about belt ranking, Dallas has been trained in and uses elements from the following fighting techniques: Capaeoera; Faan Tze Ying Jow Pai (Eagle Claw kung fu); Qixing Tanglangquan (Mantis); Chang Quon (Long fist); Wing Chun; and of course, wrestling. The partners should know the others capabilities, I think, so lets assume they've shared a little information on this level at least.
