For those interested WB has just released the first seasons of the A-Team and the Dukes of Hazzard on DVD. Now I just have to go find em.

O yeah I saw the new Harry Potter movie last Fri. I am not gonna say anything since I know Ranger wants to see it and due to offspring really doesn't get a chance to go to the theaters much. I will say this of the three this one really strays from the book a bit but aside from that it is a well done movie and very enjoyable. Happy viewing.

So I have a copy of "Master and Commander" sitting on my dining room table for about 2-3 weeks now and haven't watched it yet. Is it any good?

By I, (Ranger) on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 - 01:29 pm:

Hey, I want to see that.

By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 - 04:31 pm:

Maybe I'll bring it over sometime

Ok I just found out about a great deal on the forth coming Star Wars dvd set. My old employers Gamestop are doing a promotion that when you trade in any three dvd's and put the credit towards the reserve of the set it's only $29.99. I challange you to beat that price. I plan to get rid of movies I regret buying like Starship Troopers 2 (Jon and I watched it one afternoon and we want that hour and a half back, we kept watching in the hopes that it would get better and guess what it didn't). So if you have three dvd's you no longer want trade em in at a Gamestop, Funcoland, Babbages, or software Etc. and get in on this great deal.

This commercial is brought to you by the letter Z and the number 7.

Can we do the same thing with VHS tapes?

Maybe I'll take 3 of Brenna's movies, lemme think: Message in a Bottle, Casual Sex, and Campus Man... Date with an Angel comes in a close fourth... Oh yeah, also Grease 2, but then again, that's on tape... :)

You know what you could do is go to a dollar store or a place that sells REALLY REALLY cheap dvd's.

They announced that the third prequal will be titled Star Wars III - Revenge of the Sith.

Yeah I heard. I just hope george isn't directing this time. I can dream, can't I?

By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Monday, August 02, 2004 - 11:51 am:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!! That was funny, Nat!

By I, (Ranger) on Tuesday, August 03, 2004 - 02:18 am:

Direct hell, I hope he is struck by lightning if he tries writing the screenplay. Whoever told that man he could write?

By Ms. Vice (Nat) on Tuesday, August 03, 2004 - 10:34 am:

George be an imaginative genius and have some good ideas, but he can't direct. The last SW movie I saw the whole love connection between Anikin and Padme was sooooo badly done I was tempted to accuse the actors- but I'd seen Portman in other films where she proved her acting ability with shining colors, so the blame came down to the director.

By Ms. Vice (Nat) on Friday, September 17, 2004 - 06:39 pm:

"Ghost in the shell 2- Innocence" starts playing today. Not many theatres playing this, but there are 3 in NYC that are. I will be going to see it prolly after monday and let y'all know how it be.

English and Japanese trailers

I recommend seeing the Japanese trailer, its much much longer than the english one and has a tone truer to the movie (from what I hear).

I've read some spoilers but I won't give anything away (not yet anyway) but it is a true sequel with the characters from GitS1 returning. This was shown at the Cannes film festival, and has gotten some mixed reviews. You either love it or hate it, and apparently this one is a bit heavier on philosophy and lighter on the nudity and gore than the GitS1.

By Who is the (Knight_Hawk) on Monday, September 20, 2004 - 09:04 am:

Let me know what you think of it Nat I am a big fan of the first one and want to see this one. I only hope it comes to a theater near me but anyway I hope it's good.

By Ms. Vice (Nat) on Monday, September 20, 2004 - 11:04 am:

Check Fandango.com, it will probably have a listing of all the places within your area code playing it.

If there aren't any theatres near ya, I beleive I heard a rumor that the DVD for GitS2 will be available in Japan, so you might be able to order it somewhere.

There are fans of GitS1 that absolutely hate GitS2 for some reason. Others love it so... *shrug* At the very least the visuals won't disappoint. Batou makes for a very different antagonist than The Major, though the major makes a reappearance. No I'm not spoiling if for ya, the japanese trailer gives that info away when ya see "2501" on Batou's field of vision.

By Ms. Vice (Nat) on Monday, September 20, 2004 - 11:05 am:

oops I meant protagonist....

By Who is the (Knight_Hawk) on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 - 12:47 pm:

I think my favorite anime to date has to be Appleseed though. Did you notice in the trailers that Batou seems to be a little sparse up top?

By Ms. Vice (Nat) on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 - 10:16 am:

I think Appleseed is a product of the same artists who did GitS, so that makes sense.

About the hair, not sparse just different. In GitS1 he had a short spikey military hairdo, in GitS2 he has it long and pulled back in a ponytail. Not that it really matters, since he's a fully artificial (save the ghost) cyborg much like the Major was. I guess he can have any kind of hair he wants :)

By Who is the (Knight_Hawk) on Thursday, September 23, 2004 - 08:59 am:

Actually in the Manga Batou is human with bionic implants. They don't really go into it in the Anime though, I wish they had included the spider tanks from the Manga. Those things were funny, they had their own personality and in one side scene one of them started going off on how they should revolt and take over and the others laughed at it, especially when they noticed the Sci-Fi info disc behind his back.

I could be mistaken about the hair I saw a guy running at the camera with sparce hair up in tufts or something.

Jon and I went to see Sky Captain and the World of Tommarrow last night. It was pretty good and the Blatent Star Wars references were hillarious.

By Ms. Vice (Nat) on Thursday, September 23, 2004 - 02:50 pm:

I guess they made Batou fully cyborg for the movies. They also don't get into the Major's vices in the movie. I haven't read the manga, but I doubt I'd get the english version from Dark Horse comics because they censor everthing in the translation and clean up the images. Bastards.

By Ms. Vice (Nat) on Friday, September 24, 2004 - 01:46 pm:

Ok I just got back from the theatre, go see GitS2. Because if you end up hating the plot, you will love the CGI- very very very drool worthy.

There is indeed much less violence in this version, but who cares, it's still a great movie. Also this time the english release is subbed, not dubbed. This is a double edged sword. On one hand you get to experience the emotion of the origial voice acting, but the down side is that sometimes you are focusing too much on reading the dialog than watching the stunning graphics.

I HATED the english dubbing on GitS1, you couldn't get more monotone.
