The Nuke Topic

The Lev Forum: Welcome to The Lev Forum (Moderator's Corner): The Nuke Topic
Welcome to the Nuke Topic.

The Lev Forum is built on the principles of Democracy and Power to the People. Therefore, Topics that no longer reflect the needs of the many are open for NUKEing that there may be space for new Topics to grow and prosper.

However, in this brave new LEV that we have created, it is rare any longer that a Topic must be gone forever and ever, and so NUKEd topics shall pass into TOPICal Limbo, a safe haven into which pass our treasured TOPICs when they die. There, they shall enjoy peaceful archival for the enjoyment of all.

==========THE RULES OF NUKE==========
In order to ensure a democratic process, here is the way in which TOPICs can be nuked.

First) If you wish to nominate a TOPIC for NUKEage, simply say so here. If two other people agree, the TOPIC will go on NUKE Countdown.

Second) A TOPIC stays on Nuke Countdown for one week, counting from the time it received a third vote.

Third) If three (3) people vote to save the Topic during the NUKE countdown, it will be spared destruction.

Fourth) If the Topic does not receive three (3) votes to save it during the countdown, one of the MODs shall move the Topic into TOPICal Limbo and close it to new posts.

I will nominate several topics for nuke-age:

Food Fight Free-for-all
LEV Commune
Corporate America
Paths to Immortality (PBEM)

Also, in an attempt to streamline, could we incorporate LEV Cafe into General Discussion? I know we have many members out there, but recently it feels like there are only 4 or 5 active members. I'd like to hear from you on these suggestions. Of course, if anyone wants transcripts of any topics to be nuked, go ahead and copy them into a word document or something. I will do the same, and upon request can supply you with a copy. Thank you.

Ya, lev cafe sounds like it would be comfy in general discussion =)

By System Administrator (Admin) on Unrecorded Date:

I second the nominations.

So delete them already. Somebody.

It is done.

In my recent wanderings I discovered a few topics that have yet to attract even one response despite their long tenures and might therefore deserve nukege. These include: Tales of the Bard, CCG Discussion, Zen, Buddhism, and Zen-Buddhism, Greek Philosophy, and Technethics

By I, (Ranger) on Sunday, November 07, 2004 - 11:52 am:

Mods should do a serious pruning of some of the unused and forgotten topics on this board. IMO pretty much the whole philosophy section can be axed. Any other thoughts on streamlining? With our limited user base, I think we can feel pretty safe in customizing rather than generalizing the topics.

By Technomage (Houdini) on Sunday, November 07, 2004 - 04:56 pm:

Sixty users are registered on this board. A small percentage.. perhaps about ten actually posts here with any regularity.

The question is how can we increase member usage?

We should take on the sad chore of considering the nukage of the whole site. We have written a lot of fun topics here but no one is coming to read or write anymore. Perhaps we should save what we want and bid adieu to the Lev. Any discussion on this proposal?

Tony wants to revamp the site. It could use some remodeling.

By Sol Hawk (Sol) on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 - 03:24 pm:

I think some streamlining can happen. Probably no need to axe the site - I like to think of it as a little oasis where all are welcome. True, we don't see a lot of post-age these days, but these things go in cycles.

I do want to do some archiving of the various old posts and have started this. This will take a while!

In the meantime, I am going to suggest sticking to our good old LEV-roots re: Nuke-age. I hear a votes from Ranger re: nuking a whole slew of topics. Anyone want to add a second vote to any of these? Could be doing the board a favor at this point since a nice pruning would probably help.

;)

I think streamlining is a good thing

By Sol Hawk (Sol) on Wednesday, October 03, 2007 - 11:50 am:

Greetings Ranger! I agree - there are probably too many topics. Let's get some posts in the Nuke-age topic and see if we can get a few topics voted out.

BTW, nice to see you again, and nice to be back!

By Sol Hawk (Sol) on Wednesday, October 03, 2007 - 11:53 am:

Ah, what I meant to say was: let's post some suggested deletions right here ;)

I'll suggest some new rules for Nuking a topic which I will shortly add to the topic header.

3 Votes needed to nuke a topic...
Once those 3 votes are received, 3 votes can save the topic. The 3 votes must be received within a week.

Nuked topics will actually go into TOPICal Limbo (archive).

What shall we nuke?

By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Thursday, October 04, 2007 - 10:30 am:

Let's Nuke the Nuke topic! wait... would that be counter-productive?

By Sol Hawk (Sol) on Thursday, October 04, 2007 - 11:57 am:

Ha ha ha!

By I, (Ranger) on Saturday, October 06, 2007 - 03:22 pm:

Perhaps
Deadwood City, A New Begining
LAND HO!!! IT'S VAXLANDIA
Town Pub
should be archived.

By I, (Ranger) on Saturday, October 06, 2007 - 03:24 pm:

Walt's corner too

Plus maybe general discussion has been broken down in too many parts - micro threading?

By Sol Hawk (Sol) on Monday, October 08, 2007 - 09:54 am:

I'll vote for VAXLANDIA.

By The One Known Only as (Greyfox) on Monday, October 08, 2007 - 11:46 am:

Let the mysterious isle of VAXLandia once again retreat beyond the mists. When she is ready to be re-discovered, and the time is right, the mists will once again part and allow navigation to her mystical shores. But until then...

NUKE!!!

By Sol Hawk (Sol) on Monday, October 08, 2007 - 03:01 pm:

OK, the clock is ticking for VAXLandia. It will be NUKEd in one week if it is not saved. (Rules posted now, see first note in this topic).

By Sol Hawk (Sol) on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 - 02:16 pm:

Ah, looks like her time is up! VAXLandia... I knew her well!

NUKE!

By Warsmith (Knight_Hawk) on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 - 11:29 am:

Hmm looks like we've been spammed.

By Sol-El of the House of El (Sol) on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 - 02:41 pm:

Boy, bots sure are dumb.

By Warsmith (Knight_Hawk) on Monday, May 12, 2008 - 09:17 am:

I think we need to nuke the presents from the web topic due to the massive spamming. Or at the very least lock it.

By System Admin (Admin) on Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 02:00 pm:

We had to deal with this for some of the websites I support on my job. I'm sick of these spam bots. Those guys are major aholes.
